Volunteers are critical to the success of our programs. By sharing their personal and work experience, JA of Georgia’s volunteers bring real-world experience into the classroom, bridging the gap between the education and business worlds. This sharing brings the curriculum to life for students, helping them to not only better understand the JA lessons on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work-place readiness, but also to make the correlation between a solid education and the opportunities it provides.
Depending upon the program being taught, JA of Georgia volunteers commit to teaching up to twelve, one hour long lessons in the classroom (elementary grades –five to six lessons, middle grades – six to seven lessons, and high school grades -- five to twelve lessons). JA provides you with turnkey materials, including lesson plans and all items necessary to teach your class. JA will train you on how to use the materials provided to you, and will connect you to a teacher in your area who has requested JA programs. You and the teacher are then provided the flexibility to determine your visitation schedule. The teacher will remain in the classroom to support you throughout the lessons. You will also have a contact at JA of Georgia who can answer any questions you have and provide any assistance you may need.
JA volunteers have the opportunity to impact a large number of students in a short span of time. As a volunteer, you will help prepare Georgia’s future workforce, and help youth avoid the financial pitfalls so many adults currently face.
