
The JA office in Augusta began operations in 1964 and then merged with JA of Georgia in May 2002. Governed by a local board of directors comprised of business and community leaders, the Augusta District served 7,600 students during the 2009/2010 school year in Richmond, Columbia, Burke, Jefferson, Washington, Hancock, Glascock, McDuffie, Warren, Taliaferro, Wilkes, Lincoln, Johnson, Emanuel, Jenkins and Screven counties in Georgia as well as Aiken and Edgefield counties in South Carolina.
