35 executives of Wachovia, A Wells Fargo Company, discussed the qualities needed to be successful entrepreneurs and drafted business plans with students in 18 classes at the Lindley 6th Grade Academy. The half-day event, held on Wednesday, September 30th, was done in partnership with the school and Junior Achievement of Georgia.

“A recent poll conducted by Gallup on behalf of JA Worldwide® found that over 95% of those surveyed felt that the US needs a more entrepreneurial workforce in order to stay competitive in the global economy,” said Jack Harris, president of Junior Achievement of Georgia. “By partnering to teach students these concepts at an early age, both Wachovia and the Lindley 6th Grade Academy are proactively preparing our students for future success.”

Wachovia’s volunteer teachers taught JA It’s My Business, a curriculum developed by Junior Achievement specifically to teach entrepreneurial concepts to middle school students. Through games and activities, students explored the skills and knowledge needed to start a business, including: product design, marketing products to the correct audience, and filling a need as a social entrepreneur. Wachovia has been a supporter of Junior Achievement for over 15 years. This event allowed the banking firm to reach every student at Lindley 6th Grade Academy.

Each school year, Junior Achievement of Georgia partners with elementary, middle and high schools across Cobb County to teach students about entrepreneurship, personal financial literacy and workforce readiness.
