"As a retired educator who has spent the last twenty years working as an advocate and intervention specialist for at risk students in Georgia, I am passionately concerned about being a resource to aid in breaking the cycle of poverty in which so many students find themselves. Much of my work is done in collaboration with likeminded professionals who also care deeply about being a part of the solution. Foremost among them have been the professionals who give their time through Junior Achievement.
Six years ago we brought the Project Success vision to Southeast High School. In addition to a mentoring program, students learned job and success skills training provided by the staff and volunteers of Junior Achievement. As JA volunteer Angel Silva put it, this is an opportunity for business and community leaders to give back by reaching out to our youth.
I must say that the most fruitful of my 20 years have been those spent at Southeast and I know that this has been due in large part to our collaboration with Junior Achievement. I am most thankful for all that JA has done for our students. Junior Achievement is a big part of the solution!"
Mr. Reilly retired last year but came back part time to assist with the Project Success program. Mr. Reilly has had JA in 14 Project Success classes over the past 6 years.
To provide our programs free of charge, JA of Georgia relies on the generous support of our donors.
JA of Georgia’s volunteers are the critical link between the business and education communities.
Teachers are where everything starts; get your students involved in Junior Achievement.
